First Amendment Alert: While we are all paying attention to Trump’s antics at the Kennedy Center and the DC Mall, the FCC is threatening eight ABC affiliates. The FCC has not pulled them off the air, and it has not issued a final decision to revoke the license - yet. What the FCC did was force an early renewal process. The FCC notice says Disney’s ABC stations normally would not have been up for renewal until 2028 at the earliest, but the FCC called them in early because of an investigation into alleged unlawful discrimination and because the FCC says it wants to determine whether the stations have operated in the “public interest.”
